Artificial Reefs

The state of South Carolina has a total of 45 artificial fishing reefs, with the Jim Caudle Reef which is located 2 1/2 miles off the coast of North Myrtle Beach being the most popular. Wikipedia.org’ss definition of an artificial reef is as follows:

“An artificial reef is a man-made, underwater structure, typically built for the purpose of promoting marine life in areas of generally featureless bottom. Artificial reefs may also serve to improve hydrodynamics for surfing or to control beach erosion.”

Fishing from a South Carolina artificial reef  can be year round experience, But peak fishing occurs from May through November. Depending on the location and when you go, popular saltwater game fish in a wide variety can had by any angler.  With the existence of artificial reefs has developed the growth in the recreation past time of SCUBA diving. With the convenience and the diversity of the sites available, artificial reefs have become a favorite for divers, with the most popular months for diving being May through October when the water temps and the weather is most favorable.

New TV Show About Area Golf Courses

Picture1Myrtle Beach , South Carolina known as the Golf Capital of the World, will be featured in another TV program yet to be named. Links illustrated will be filming 8 30-minute television shows here along the Grand Strand. They will show footage from 10 area courses: Pine Lakes Country Club, Long Bay Club, Willibrook Plantation, King’s North, Waterway Hills, Heather Glen, Caledonia, True Blue, Glen Dornoch, and Blackmoor. The show will feature for three episodes instruction from the Director of Instruction at  Champions Golf Academy at the Long Bay Club, Hugh Royer III.  You will be able to view the show on various stations, including Mid-Atlantiv Sports Network.  They will also be teaming up with Myrtle Beach National to show the episodes on the web.
