With the current state of the economy, people are looking for vacation destinations that offer budget friendly prices. After doing a considerable amount of research, I was amazed at how much money people can save on a vacation to Myrtle Beach. Everyone knows the biggest cost factor in planning a vacation is the accommodations you choose. You want a good rate for a quality location that is close to everything, and if it’s oceanfront even better. Oceana Resorts has a property and a package to fit everyone’s budget. When making a reservation for the family, reserve at a resort that has a full kitchen. Having a kitchen will allow you to cook some of your meals yourself, huge savings. Make sure your resort also has some water features for the times you don’t necessarily want to go to the beach. One of the things I find awesome about Oceana Resorts is, that all guests have access to ANY amenities offered at all their resorts. They also have an activities program with fun things for the entire family: Water Aerobics, Sand sculpting, Bubble gum blowing contests, arts & crafts projects, just to name a few. Ask your reservationist about the discount attraction tickets you may purchase directly through the resort, or book a package where attraction tickets are included. Visit one of the many parks that Myrtle Beach has to offer. Myrtle Beach State Park for example has a list of interesting events and mini classes and activites that they put on throughout the day for the entire family. Only cost associated with this would be the cost to enter the park, for a family of four it could be as little as $11. Contact the local Chamber of Commerce for a complete listing, here in Myrtle Beach you can get a monthly breakdown which is more valuable than the yearly guide. During the summer months, the Grand Strand is full of events and festivals that don’t cost a thing. For example, most recently was the kick-off of the Sun Fun Festival. This was a FREE event where people were treated to a concert from recording artsits Lifehouse, meet and greets with Nickeloden’s Backyardians, American Idol’s Blake Lewis, Nature Boy Rick Flair, Honeycomb Kids Playzone, and much more. Nightly you can enjoy an outdoor concert in a festive atomosphere at Broadway at the Beach’s Celebrity Square, where you can also enjoy a fireworks display. Or travel further north to Barefoot Landing where nightly they have boardwalk entertainers, such as Stilt walkers, Magicians, Clowns, and fireworks over the IntraCoastal Waterway. In Conway, a few miles down the road you can take your family and enjoy a movie outside from a drop-down screen at the Riverwalk. Bring a blanket, pack a picnic or get your popcorn and treats there. No cost associated with any of these events. These are just some of the ways you can get a great vacation in Myrtle Beach without breaking the bank.
